How long does it take to deep clean a 2,000 square foot home?
The short answer
There's no fixed hour count that applies to every 2,000 sq ft home: timing depends on current condition, bathroom count, layout, and how many cleaners are assigned. Our internal staffing logic assigns larger crews as square footage grows, so a bigger job doesn't simply take proportionally longer. The live estimator calculates timing from your specific inputs.
What changes the timeline
| Factor | Effect on time |
|---|---|
| Current condition | Neglected homes need more time to reach starting point than lightly maintained ones |
| Bathroom count | Each bathroom adds detail work regardless of overall square footage |
| Layout / access | Multi-story or tightly packed layouts affect crew efficiency |
| Crew size assigned | More cleaners on a larger home reduces total time on site, not just hours worked |
| Add-ons selected | Inside oven, fridge, and windows add discrete blocks of time |
| Pets / clutter | Extra items to move or clean around can slow a pass |
Why we avoid a stated hour count
It's tempting to publish a rule like 'X minutes per square foot,' but that number would be invented rather than a real reflection of how cleaning time scales. Time doesn't scale linearly with square footage because larger homes are typically staffed with more people, and condition varies far more than floor area does between any two homes.
What we can say honestly is that our scheduling logic adds cleaners as square footage increases, which is meant to keep the time on site reasonable rather than letting bigger homes simply take proportionally longer with the same size crew.
If you need a specific window for scheduling purposes (coordinating with movers or a listing photographer, for example), the estimator's calculation based on your actual inputs will be far more reliable than any published industry average.
How California Deep Clean approaches it
- 01
Gather your home's specifics
Square footage, bathroom count, and condition go into the estimator before any time is quoted.
- 02
Match crew size to the work
Larger or more demanding jobs get more cleaners, not just a longer single-person visit.
- 03
Communicate a realistic window
You get a window based on your inputs, with room to confirm before the appointment.
- 04
Adjust in real time if needed
If access or condition differs on site, we communicate before adding to the work.
Stop guessing, price the actual space.
The estimator prices from your real inputs: square footage, bedrooms and bathrooms, condition, add-ons, access and timing. No averages, no phone tag.
Calculated from your home's size, condition, and crew assignment.
Related questions
Generally yes for the same amount of work, since more cleaners working in parallel reduces total time on site. This is part of why our staffing logic scales crew size with square footage rather than keeping crew size fixed.
Yes. Inside oven, inside fridge, and interior windows each add real time, so selecting them in the estimator gives you a more accurate window than an estimate without them.
Let us know your constraint when booking and we'll do our best to schedule accordingly, though condition discovered on-site can affect timing.
Not necessarily: layout, number of bathrooms, and access can differ meaningfully even at the same square footage, which is why the estimator asks for more than just size.
